Cycling through Kempen-Broek near Weert

South of Weert you will cycle through Grenspark Kempen-Broek. Here you will find plenty of variation between nature reserves and agricultural land. First you will cycle through the Laurabossen. From 1900 onwards, conifers were planted here for the production of wooden poles for the Limburg mining company Laura en Vereeniging. You will mainly see Scots pine, Corsican pine and Douglas fir. Via the Moeselpeel nature reserve and the hamlet of Schoor you will cycle to the Banen, a unique fen area. At Mildershoof you can make a pit stop on the cozy terrace, after which you will continue along the Wessem-Nederweert Canal. Just before Tungelroy you will cycle through the Krang swamp forest, a little later you will cycle through the Tungelerwallen conifer forest. Finally you will cycle along a winding path along the marshes and rough grasslands of the Wijffelterbroek.
