Stage 8 of the Cycling Path is the penultimate stage of the Cycling Path. This route takes you from Venlo to Montfort, right along the German border. Along the way you will be introduced to beautiful nature reserves, interesting sights and authentic Limburg pictures.
Up a hill, down a hill
Get on your bike in Venlo and set course for the German border. This route takes you largely along the border with our eastern neighbors. After about 9 kilometers you can take a break at Oelespot Restaurant if you want to rest with a cup of coffee. You then cycle further along Belfeld and Reuver while driving up and down hills in this rolling landscape. It is not without reason that Limburg is known for its hilly landscape.
Castle splendor
On the way to Roermond you will pass two beautiful castles: Hillenraad Castle and Zuidewijk Castle. The first castle in particular is a true gem. A little outside Roermond you can settle at Boerderijterras and Camping het Spikkerdal, but you can also cycle to Montfort.
Feast your eyes
In the last part of the route you will pass one sight after another. How about Freymersen Castle, the Verbeek Mill or Huize Hoosden? All these sights tell you something about the rich history of Limburg. Just outside Montfort there is a place where archaeologists have buried Roman coins and a little further on you will find Montfort Castle. In short, there is plenty to see on this route.
