Description
The Hondsrug area is unique. The sand ridges and valleys were formed in the ice ages and prehistoric man left us his treasures. For thousands of years, people shaped a landscape that is timeless.
It is fantastic cycling here through the friendly, rolling landscape with forests, burial mounds, dolmens, fens and beautiful heathlands. The largest dolmen in the Netherlands is in Borger. It remains special how people were able to build such a grave with such large boulders 5000 years ago.
The Hondsrug is so special that it has UNESCO Geopark status.
