Your route starts at Hoppies. You will make a nice round through and around Ammerzoden. The reformed church or ruin church has been a ruin for the most part since the 17th century. A beautiful spot. But the real highlight of this walk can be found a little further on: the route also takes you past Ammersoyen Castle, one of the best preserved moated castles in the Netherlands. The castle dates from 1026 and the original square layout is still clearly recognizable. During construction, the castle was located in or on the Maas, but in 1354 the course of the river changed. Since then, the main castle has almost always been surrounded by a moat. Ammersoyen was also one of the first castles with four corner towers, which made the castle well defensible.
Below you will find various suggestions for breaks that you can visit during your route. These are divided into different categories, making it easy for you to choose.
