Cycling route De Lutte, Bad Bentheim and Gildehaus

From De Lutte you drive to the Lutterzand. In this beautiful nature reserve you see a mix of sand drifts, heathlands and deciduous forest. You cross the border, after which you drive a stretch through the Bentheimer Woud, the former hunting ground of the Counts of Bentheim. Here you can enjoy the peace and the centuries-old oaks and beeches. Just past junction 7, the route takes you through the picturesque heart of Bad Bentheim. Turn right here if you want to see the medieval city castle. The fortress was built with blocks of Bentheimer Sandstone. Further on you drive through the town of Gildehaus, after which you cycle along the Gildehauser Venn, a peat area that mainly consists of large heathlands. The route ends at Eetcafe't Lutters Kwartier. Here you can enjoy a delicious meal.
