BRASA Beemster in Middenbeemster is the base of this route. The Beemster is the oldest and most famous polder in the whole of the Netherlands. Middenbeemster is the oldest village in the Beemster. The first square of this village was built in 1610 and the rest of the village soon followed. Part of the village is a protected villagescape and you will find dozens of national monuments there. Take a look at this village and then walk through the polders of the Beemster to Zuidoostbeemster. Along the way you will pass the Beemster Arboretum, a kind of park with a large collection of trees and shrubs. From Zuidoostbeemster you walk to the Neckermolen. This polder mill was built around 1631. Then you walk along a canal and through the polders back to Middenbeemster.
