Description
Between Alkmaar and the Markermeer you will find a vast polder area with a small town here and there. Start with a nice cup of coffee at BRASA Beemster in Middenbeemster. Along the way you cycle through the Beemster, one of the oldest and most beautiful reclaimed lands in North Holland. Halfway you can stop at the second location of BRASA Beemster in Purmerend for a delicious lunch. You will also pass several polder mills, such as De Menningweermolen from 1888 and De Nachtegaal mill. Along the way, enjoy the quiet polders that provide a habitat for all kinds of birds. The Eilandspolder, for example, a special nature reserve. This used to be an island, before the area was reclaimed! A little further on you cycle along the edge of the Markermeer with a beautiful view over the water.
