The Lemelerberg and the Sallandse Heuvelrug
The starting point of this cycle tour is on the edge of the Lemelerberg nature reserve. This area consists of heathlands, deciduous forests, springs and drifting sand plains. In spring and autumn, herds of sheep walk around here to graze the area. You cycle through this area to the banks of the Beneden Regge. You then continue along the course of the river to Hellendoorn. From Hellendoorn you cycle across the Sallandse Heuvelrug, one of the largest nature reserves in all of Overijssel. The rolling heathlands are breathtakingly beautiful when they are in bloom in August and September and the forests in this area also form a beautiful cycling environment.
