Echtenerveld loop from Koekange

Your route starts at the Welgelegen Estate. From here, you'll cycle smoothly to the Echtenerveld, a large nature reserve with forests, heathland, and fens. Protected juniper grows in the "Echtens Paradijs," a heathland with a sand drift. You'll also pass two historic burial mounds. These were once used to bury the deceased and to honor the dead. Via the Gijsselterkoelen, you'll cycle to the picturesque village of Echten. Here, you'll step back in time with its centuries-old Saxon farms. The village is dominated by the beautiful Echten manor house from the fifteenth century. At that time, it was still a hall house, but in the eighteenth century it was converted into a house with two wings surrounding a courtyard. Today, it is a workshop for the visually and intellectually impaired.
