The Maas, an impressive rain river, has shaped a versatile and fascinating landscape in Limubrg over the centuries. This cycle route takes you through this beautiful landscape in RivierPark Maasvallei.

The landscape consists of a tangle of old stream channels, cut-off meanders, dikes and floodplains. The high and low water levels of the Meuse and the gravel, sand and clay that is brought by the river ensure a great diversity in the landscape. The RivierPark Maasvallei is part of this landscape. Historic cities and striking villages bear witness to a past that is intertwined with the Meuse. The Meuse valley used to be, among other things, the trade connection with other countries and the rest of the Netherlands. The Meuse was therefore of great strategic importance. Several castle domains have been preserved along the Meuse.

Grab your bike and discover the RivierPark Maasvallei yourself. Enjoy the beautiful Maas landscape and picturesque villages such as Meers, Geulle, Borgharen, but also the city of Maastricht. Also be sure to visit the Streekmuseum De Schippersbeurs in Elsoo, the horse grave in Borgharen or the tree calendar Woodhenge in Meers.
