Straight through the Dommeldal

This route takes you through the versatile surroundings of Nuenen. First you drive through the Dommeldal. The river meanders here in a picturesque way through an old cultural landscape of fields, meadows and forests. Further on you will pass through Nuenens Broek. This swamp forest was originally a swamp area, poplars were planted here in the 1930s. At junction 78 you pass the Roosdonck. This mill flour from 1884 was drawn no fewer than seven times by Van Gogh. The painter enjoyed staying in these beautiful surroundings. Just past Gerwen you cycle through the forests of the Papenvoortse Heide. In the countryside you will pass through a number of villages worth seeing, such as Mariahout. At De Vresselse Hut you can regain your strength with a snack and drink.
