The Jaapad route from TOP Nieuwkoop is 57 km. The route can also be started from TOP Pondskoekersluis.

The municipality of Nieuwkoop was created on excavated peatlands and is characterized by wide lakes, extensive polders and beautiful nature reserves.
The Nieuwkoopse Plassen were created in the 16th century by peat painting the area. Peat was dredged on a large scale to use as peat. In addition to the lakes, the area around Nieuwkoop has many reed fields, which give the east of the area in particular a wide and open character.
In addition to the Nieuwkoopse Plassen and the ribbon village of Nieuwkoop, the Langeraarse Plassen and the picturesque river Meije are also nearby.

De Groene Jonker nature reserve
The De Groene Jonker nature reserve, opened in 2007, is certainly worth exploring. The variety in nature ensures a special range of meadow and marsh birds. A hiking trail runs through the area with various viewpoints. In spring and summer you can see the spoonbill spooning its meal there and in winter thousands of ducks and geese hibernate there. A fantastic sight.

Nature experience trail
The Nieuwkoopse Plassen were created by peat extraction. The islands in the lakes have special flora and fauna and are protected nature reserves. Work shed Natuurmonumenten
On the other side of the Nieuwkoopse Plassen you will find the work shed of Natuurmonumenten at bicycle junction 57. The Oudshoornpad starts from the work shed, which goes straight through meadows and over fences. You can also take a walk through the Haeck nature reserve.
