Diepenheim and Markelo Castle Route

Camping Monte Bello is the starting point of this castle route. You will pass beautiful houses and castles such as Wegdam and Weldam. The Nijenhuis can be found east of Diepenheim. The middle part dates from 1662, in later centuries it was expanded with a total of four towers. A beautifully intact country estate extends all around. The character of the Nijenhuis estate is park-like: romantic walking paths along the Molenbeek, monumental groups of trees and picturesque vistas determine the image. Worth taking a break! Huis Castle in Diepenheim is the oldest castle in the region. It was built in 1648 by Berent Bentinck. His family coat of arms can be admired on the beautiful castle gate. Get off in Markelo at Grand Cafe De Kroon before cycling back to your starting point!
