Castle route around Delden

Old mills and castles
The starting point of this cycle route is just outside Delden. From here you cycle through the Twente scenic landscape to Hengelo. Along the way you will pass the Noordmolen, an oil mill that is more than 650 years old. You used to find a flour mill opposite this mill, but it was demolished in 1831. A little further along the route, near the town of Diepenheim, you will pass several castles such as; Wegdam Castle and Weldam Castle. Both castles originated from a former manor house and both manors were built in the 14th century. In 1897 Wegdam was sold to the Lady of Weldam and the castles have been together ever since.
