Description

The route starts and ends at hiking junction 34 in Wijtschate, a village in the province of West Flanders and a sub-municipality of Heuvelland.

At the beginning of the route you can admire the St. Medardus Church before walking further to several mine craters that have been preserved from the Mine Battle, such as the Spanbroekmolen crater (also known as the Pool of Peace) and the Peckham crater.

The walk takes you through the Kampagnebos, where you can see the historic Diederichbunker. In the Croonaertwood you can visit the restored Bayernwald, an impressive memorial to the First World War with a German trench system and bunkers.

This route offers a rich combination of natural beauty and historical sights, fully signposted with walking junctions for easy navigation.
