Your route starts at Down Town Wehl. Today you will explore the cross-border landscape park Eltenberg-Bergherbos. This ridge with its beautiful forests is located on a moraine that was formed in the penultimate ice age, about two hundred thousand years ago. In 's-Heerenberg you will see the medieval castle Huis Bergh, surrounded by a moat and an old fortification wall. A visit is worthwhile, partly because of the famous portrait gallery from the 15th and 16th centuries. Afterwards you can enjoy a phenomenal view over the Rhine valley from the Eltenberg. The St. Vitus Church here dates from 1677, but there has been a church here for more than a thousand years. The 57-metre deep Drususbrunnen was constructed as a water well for the women's abbey built in 980. The water level is 21.5 m above sea level!
