Cycling through Aalten and surroundings

Around Aalten you cycle through the famous Achterhoek scenic landscape. You can fully enjoy the tranquility and natural beauty here, so cycling hardly requires any effort. You also pass through Aalten. Because of the many well-preserved old buildings, the area around the Markt enjoys a protected village view. Here you will see, among other things, the Old Helena Church, which dates from the twelfth century. Cycling along the Boven-Slinge you enter the countryside again, passing through the small-scale Loohuisbos. A little later you make a shortcut through Germany. At junction 72 you can view a border marker from 1766 on which the coats of arms of Gelre and Munster are displayed. Just before getting off you pass Hermien, a beautiful flour mill from 1819. At Cafe de Boer you can enjoy a cozy terrace.
