Cycling through Bredevoort and Aalten

From the village of Harreveld you can experience a beautiful bike ride in the Achterhoek. Here you drive through a cultural landscape of old Saxon farms, fields, grasslands and small-scale nature reserves. An ideal environment to switch off for a while. In addition to natural beauty, cultural history is also on the program. You pass through Bredevoort, a former fortified town where you still see plenty of monumental buildings. You will also find some bookstores and honesty bookshops, because Bredevoort is considered a National Book City. Cycling along the Boven-Slinge you then enter Aalten. The Markt and surrounding area enjoy a protected village view, you will experience a nice historic atmosphere here. Here you will see, among other things, the twelfth-century Oude Helena Church. At junction 39 you pass the Vennebulten nature reserve. After getting off, you can enjoy a cozy terrace at Cafe de Boer.
