Assebroek route

The start and end point of this walking route is in Assebroek, in the province of West Flanders and a sub-municipality of the provincial capital Bruges.

Past the Assebroek-Bruges Central Cemetery and through the Daverlo Park you walk past the Maria Assumpta Church, a modernist brick church from 1962-1965.

In the Gemene Weidebeek nature reserve, an oasis of peace in the middle of an urban area, you will find several benches and picnic tables near Hoeve Hangerijn close to the Paalbos.

In the Ryckevelde nature reserve you pass the Ryckevelde castle domain, which is partly military domain and partly protected nature reserve. You continue the route through the Assebroekse Meersen nature reserve, characterized by meadows and hay fields surrounded by pollard willows and poplars.

At the hamlet of Ver-Assebroek you can admire the Church of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception before walking through the Bergjesbos and along the edge of the Steenbrugse woods.

Back in the center of Assebroek, you walk past the De Zeven Torentjes petting zoo, which is located around a historic farm.

Boots or sturdy footwear are recommended in rainy weather.
