Description
The start and end point of this walking route is in Schendelbeke, a village in the province of East Flanders and a sub-municipality of Geraardsbergen.
You pass the Sint-Amandus Church and Poelaertplas on the way to Provincial Domain"De Gavers\\\". It is a multifunctional site including: a swimming beach, playing fields, walking, riding and cycling paths, restaurants and an adventure park. You can sail, surf and kayak on the Gavermeer. Part of the domain is a nature reserve where you can spot water birds.
Via Onkerzele and Geraardsbergen you walk along the Dender through the Boelaremeersen nature reserve, an ideal biotope for various bird species.
Boots or sturdy footwear are recommended in rainy weather.
The route is fully signposted with hiking junctions.
