Description
The start and end point of this walking route is in Kalken, a sub-municipality of Laarne in the province of East Flanders, and runs through the Kalkense Meersen nature reserve in the Scheldt Valley National Park between Kalken, Overmere, Uitbergen, Schellebelle and Wetteren.
In the Kalkense Meersen nature reserve there are several paved and unpaved paths where you can walk freely and enjoy the beautiful nature with its typical fauna and flora.
At the Schellebelle pedestrian and bicycle ferry, after walking junction 2, you will see the Sint-Jan Onthoofdingkerk on the other side of the Scheldt.
At the end of the route you can admire the St. Denis Church or enjoy a snack or drink in the centre of Kalken.
The route is fully signposted with hiking junctions and boots or sturdy shoes are recommended.
