Description
The route starts and ends at hiking junction 30 in the hamlet of Terwest in Moerbeke, located on the Moervaart. South of the village center of Moerbeke you will find the Turfmeersen nature reserve, an area in the Moervaart Depression.
You walk via the Zuidlebeek to Eksaarde, past the Domain't Meersdael with its historic bunkers near the castle grounds. The route takes you through the De Linie nature reserve, where you pass the Durmemeer. This area is ideal for spotting birds and other fauna and flora.
On the way back along the Moervaart you will pass a drawbridge and have the opportunity to visit the center of Moerbeke.
The route is fully signposted with hiking junctions.
During wet rainy days, boots or sturdy shoes are recommended.
