Eilandspolder is the historic, green heart of the Land van Leeghwater, wedged between the Beemster and Schermer reclaimed lands. Villages in this area are Graft, de Rijp, Oost- and Westgraftdijk, Noordeinde, Grootschermer, Driehuizen and Schermerhorn.
Long ago, this polder was an island located between large lakes such as the Schermer and the Beemster.
This typical Dutch walk introduces you to the picturesque villages of De Rijp and Graft, the Kamerhop pumping station, the Fort at Spijkerboor, the canal villages of Oost- and West-Graftdijk, and the Graftermeer.
The route runs between junctions 40 and 23 over a grass dike (farmland path) where dogs are prohibited.
Below you will find various suggestions for breaks that you can visit during your route. These are divided into different categories, making it easy for you to choose.
