Eilandspolder east: De Rijp - Graft - Noordeinde

Beautiful varied walk through picturesque villages and meadows with beautiful views.

Eilandspolder is the historic, green heart of the Land van Leeghwater, wedged between the Beemster and Schermer reclaimed lands. Villages in this area are Graft, de Rijp, Oost- and Westgraftdijk, Noordeinde, Grootschermer, Driehuizen and Schermerhorn.

Long ago, this polder was an island located between large lakes such as the Schermer and the Beemster.

This route starts and ends as a village walk; In De Rijp you walk across the Grote Dam (where it all started), the Tuingracht (the first harbour) and the Rechtestraat (the oldest street).

Museum"The wooden house\\\" in De Rijp is highly recommended.

From De Rijp you walk along the semi-paved ring dike and straight through the polder on an old church path. You walk back via the village of Noordeinde and through the village of Graft with its beautiful town house.

Please note: this route is not accessible during the breeding season (March 15-June 15).

Dogs are prohibited.

Tip: depending on the wind direction and wind strength, it may be more pleasant to walk the route the other way around.
