Description
A (yellow marked) detour on paved (cycling) paths along the Alkmaar (Omval)-Kolhorn Canal.
East of the canal you walk on the Westdijk of Broekhorn.
A hundred years ago, farmers came from Heerhugowaard by boat to the electrically operated ferry crossing at Broekhorn, to transport their vegetables to the Broekerveiling.
The boats, freight and all, were pulled over the dike.
West of the canal you walk past the Twuyvermolen at Sint Pancras, and through the southern part of the old ribbon village of Broek op Langedijk.
This route has a connection with the Sint Pancras walking starting point.
