Description
Attractive castles and estates route. For touring cyclists who, individually or in small groups, want to enjoy the surroundings. Largely across the junction network, so not everywhere. On paved and (sometimes) semi-paved roads and cycle paths. Also some narrow gravel paths, brick roads and cobblestone strips. Slightly undulating terrain around Lochem and Markelo).
Plenty of highlights along the way, on or directly near the route: the Twenthe Canal, Den Haller watermill and (three of the six) castles Weldam, Nijenhuis and Warmelo near Diepenheim, the'Stedeke\\\' itself (Diepenheim is the smallest town in Overijssel), Geesteren, Barchem, Lochem with Ampsen castle, the characteristic Twente farms in the hamlet of Stokkum near Markelo, via the clog village of Enter back to Almelo.
This route is part of a circuit of eleven LF rounds through Twente (and the border area). If you have cycled all eleven, then you know the versatility of the Twente landscape better than anyone.
