It is beautiful to cycle through the wide polders around Alphen aan den Rijn. In addition to extensive grasslands and ditches, you will also see many old mills here. For example, between Aarlanderveen and Zwammerdam you will pass the only mill corridor in the world that still actively drains the polders. Just past junction 88 you will see the Dikke Molen on your right, a polder mill from 1674. On your left you will look out over the rippling water of the Oude Rijn. In Alphen aan den Rijn is the Eendracht, a flour mill from 1752. You make a shortcut through the center of the city, after which you cycle along the Oude Rijn and along the Heimanswetering to Woubrugge. Here you can view the village church from 1653. In Ter Aar it is time for a snack at MEEK Coffee & Foods.
Below you will find various suggestions for breaks that you can visit during your route. These are divided into different categories, making it easy for you to choose.
