Walking through Stevensweert and along the Maas

Stevensweert is one of the most beautiful places in Limburg. The former fortified town still has a well-preserved historic street pattern. You will also see many beautiful old buildings, such as on Singelstraat. Here are the St. Stephen's Church from 1781, the former town hall from 1858 and the small white chapel from 1819. Further on you walk through part of the old fortress. From junction 82 you walk along a leafy sandy path along the Oude Maas. It is wonderfully quiet walking here, ideal for a day of relaxation. From junction 34 you walk past the Biltplas, a former gravel quarry. From junction 40 you look out to the left over the Molenplas: this lake was also created by gravel extraction. Back in Stevensweert it is time for a tasty snack on the terrace of \\\'t Aod Kloaster.
