This walking route takes you across the Island in the Maas. First you walk a bit through Stevensweert. In the historic heart you can still see the street pattern of the former fortress. There are also many beautiful monumental buildings. From the Dijk you look out over the Grensmaas, Belgium is on the other bank. You pass the Hompesche Molen, a flour mill from 1722. On the edge of Laak you pass the Sint-Anna Chapel from 1896, after which you walk a long way along the Grensmaas. You make a shortcut through Ohe, at the Molenplas you pass the Tree Monument: black oak trunks that were buried by Maas gravel 2000 years ago and emerged during gravel extraction. At't Aod Kloaster you can enjoy a drink on the cozy terrace.
