Mill Route Alblasserwaard: from Schoonhoven to Kinderdijk

South Holland has more than two hundred windmills: this province is the'most rich in windmills\\\' in the entire world! By bike, on foot or by car, get to know the mills that used to drain the land and produce flour. Enjoy beautiful views or visit one of the many craft businesses along the route, where you can taste real Gouda cheese, for example. This Mill Route starts and ends at the place where the Lopiker, Krimpeneren Alblasserwaard cross each other: at Schoonhoven. The Silver City on the Lek has a rich cultural history. Tip: in July and August the windmills of Kinderdijk turn every Saturday, and at the beginning of September the windmills are illuminated in the evening!
