Walking through the Lactaria forests

The first part of this route takes you through the agricultural landscape north of Overloon. On car-free roads you head to the Lactariabossen, a nature reserve that is also known as De Hondsberg. As in many other parts of North Brabant, coniferous forests were planted here at the beginning of the nineteenth century on what were originally heathland. This softwood was used in the South Limburg mines. In recent decades, many of these conifers have been replaced by deciduous trees, so that you now walk through a varied forest. What stands out here is the tranquility. Wonderful for a day of relaxation. You can walk at your leisure along fields and meadows back to Overloon.
