Tour of De Kuilen and Langenboomse Bossen

Your route starts at Brasserie & B&B De Valkhoeve Mill. De Kuilen is a recreational lake that was created by mining sand, gravel and other natural materials for a nearby brick factory. You can swim and laze there or explore the nature reserve at your leisure. North of De Kuilen you walk straight into the Langenboomse Bossen, which mainly consist of conifers. Natuurmonumenten is trying to give it a more varied appearance in order to allow the protected viviparous lizard to return to the heathlands. In autumn you will find many mushrooms in these forests, such as the fly agaric and the knight mushroom. The tree creeper, the great spotted woodpecker and the green woodpecker breed in the forests, but two badger dens also indicate the presence of these animals.
