Tour of Zwolle and Westerveldse bos

Your route starts at Mercure Zwolle. The Hanseatic city of Zwolle was founded in the Middle Ages on a higher cover sand ridge, in an area that was otherwise very swampy. The height differences are still noticeable in the Overijssel capital. In addition to green, you will also see a lot of blue on this route: after all, Zwolle is located at a crossroads of waterways! Creek ridges, river dunes, gullies, mounds, sandbanks... This way you cycle through the Westerveldse bos, a young nature reserve on the banks of the Zwarte Water. You briefly join the Vecht and then cycle further to the IJsseldelta. This is a National Landscape, a typical Dutch polder landscape. On the way back you will pass through the English Work, a large city park that was built around 1830 on former fortifications. It is decorated in the romantic English landscape style.
