Lush forests surrounding Liempde

De Scheeken nature reserve and Velder estate
The starting point of this route is just outside the town of Eerde. From here you cycle past Sint-Oedenrode into the De Scheeken nature reserve. This area consists of moist deciduous forests, swamp forests and areas with poplars. The soil here consists of loam, which prevents water from seeping into the ground. That makes this a wet area. A little further on you cycle through the Velder Estate with a moist, old deciduous forest. This forest is a starry forest with nine avenues that meet at a central point. This forest was created on the estate around the year 1750. Then you cycle through Liempde and Schijndel back in the direction of Eerde.

Camping The Good Life
The start and end point of this route is the Het Goeie Leven campsite. Here you can have a bite to eat at the bistro on the campsite or stay the night. You can pitch your own caravan or tent here, but you can also choose to rent an overnight stay.

Liempde
Along the way you will visit the village of Liempde. The first settlement at this location arose in the Middle Ages on the fertile soil along the Dommel. Over the centuries this developed into a village. At the end of the 19th century, the clog factory was of great importance to the village. Nowadays there is still one clog factory located in Liempde.
