Description
In the area around Papendrecht and Sliedrecht you will find flat polders with extensive meadows. These open areas alternate with small villages, authentic farms and real Dutch windmills. A wonderfully quiet area to explore by bike.
Peace and space
The start and end point of this cycle route is at a parking lot in Papendrecht. Park your car here and quickly hop on your bike to hit the road. Once you have cycled out of Papendrecht, you immediately enter the linear polders. Enjoy the endless view over the polder and the peace and quiet that prevails here. Along the way you cycle through small towns such as Bleskensgraaf and Giessenburg. The sights you can admire along the way are the De Vriendschap flour mill and the Kerkmolen polder mill. The last part of the route takes you along the banks of the Beneden-Merwede river.

The flour mill was built in 1890 as a replacement for a rocking flour mill that was built here in 1680. Nowadays, grain is no longer ground in the mill. Volunteer millers keep the mill running to prevent decay. Part of the mill is used as a home.
