Description
Do you enjoy cycling through open polder areas? Then you have come to the right place in the Sliedrecht area. The landscape here consists of flat polders and vast meadows with a characteristic farm or a village here and there.
Polders as far as you can see
Sliedrecht is located on the river Beneden-Merwede. The first part of this route takes you through the center of Sliedrecht on the edge of this river. You then cycle along the edge of Papendrecht into the seemingly endless polder landscape. The straight planes in the landscape immediately reveal that this piece of land has been artificially constructed. Along the way you cycle through the towns of Bleskensgraaf and Ottoland. You will also cycle past the flour mill De Vriendschap and the polder mills the Hofwegense Molen and the Kerkmolen. At the end of the route you will return to Sliedrecht.

Mill The Friendship
The most impressive windmill on this route is windmill De Vriendschap. This mill is located a bit outside Bleskensgraaf. This flour mill was built in 1890 as a replacement for a seesaw flour mill from 1680. Nowadays the mill is no longer used to grind grain, but the mill is kept running by volunteers. Part of the mill is used as a residence.
