Description
The Nijkerkernauw is one of the peripheral lakes between Gelderland and Flevoland. Together with the Nuldernauw, this lake is the narrowest peripheral lake in the Netherlands. This route takes you along the shore of the lake in the area of Nijkerk.
Endless polder landscapes
Beach Nulde is the starting point of this route. From here you have a beautiful view of the Randmeren and the Flevopolder on the other side of the water. You cycle for a while along the landscaped beach and then cycle into the polder landscape on your way to the town of Steenenkamer. Then you head to the town of Diermen and then cycle to the edge of the Nijkerkernauw. The last part of the route takes you along the water. The Randmeren were created in 1968 during the construction of Southern Flevoland. Pumping stations pump excess water from the polders to these peripheral lakes, so that no nuisance is caused by the water.

Oldenaller Castle
On this cycle route you will pass Oldenaller Castle. There was already a castle on this site in the Middle Ages, but little else is known from this time. The current castle dates from 1655. The house is entirely made of brick and was built in the style of Dutch classicism. Near the bridge to the castle there is a vegetable garden and an orchard.
