You walk part of the route through the narrow, elongated Savelsbos. In this sloping forest you will mainly see deciduous trees such as summer oak, beech, common maple and horse chestnut. Under the canopy of these trees you can quickly cool down after a climb. The Savelsbos is known for the white blossom of the rare wild garlic, an onion-like plant that blooms in the spring. There are also several beautiful villages along your route where you will see the characteristic half-timbered houses that remind you of holidays abroad. In Eckelrade you will pass the Sint-Bartholomeuskerk. This marl church is located on a church hill and originally dates from the thirteenth century. The white Kasteel Rijckholt is also a sight to behold. The residential tower dates back to the fifteenth century. The route starts and ends at Golfbaan Het Rijk van Margraten. Hit a ball on the golf course here or enjoy a well-deserved snack and drink.
