After a delicious meal at Mister Pancake, you will take a lovely bike ride through Enschede and the green countryside. First, you will cycle to the Aamsveen, a cross-border nature reserve, the largest part of which is located in Germany. The Aamsveen is one of the few remnants of what was once an extensive raised bog area. You will cycle through a mix of swamp forest, heathlands, lakes and poor grassland. What is immediately noticeable: the silence in this border region. Ideal for a relaxing day. The second part of the route takes you through Enschede. You will pass through the Wesselerbrinkpark. The Thomas Ainsworthpark, located further on, is named after a nineteenth-century technician who worked in the textile industry in this region. Finally, you will pass the Oude Markt, where you will see the beautiful Grote Kerk, among other things.
Below you will find various suggestions for breaks that you can visit during your route. These are divided into different categories, making it easy for you to choose.
