Walking through the countryside of Winterswijk

This walking route introduces you to the beautiful landscape south of Winterswijk. From junction Z87 you walk along the Boven-Slinge for a while. Next to this stream you walk through the Buskersbos, a small-scale nature reserve where medlar, bird cherry and ash grow. In the spring the ground looks white with wood anemones. On the Slingeweg you pass a former schoolmaster's house (the Meistershoes). A few meters away there is a replica of the school pump on the square. You continue walking along unpaved paths along the fields. How peaceful it is here! At the end of the route you pass the Den Helder: a double undershot water mill whose history dates back to the Middle Ages. At Restaurant De Gulle Smid you can enjoy a drink and a tasty snack.
