Walking through the Manteling

This walk through the Manteling is relatively short, so you can also do it with children. First, you walk towards Kasteel Westhove. This moated castle originally dates from the thirteenth century, but has been extensively renovated several times over the years. In front of the castle is a park with a water feature and several old trees. A little later you walk a bit through the dunes. You make a trip to the beach, after which you enter the deciduous forest that surrounds the Berkenbosch country estate. From the seventeenth to the nineteenth century, the elite spent their summers here. You recognize the old country estate layout by the straight lanes and rhododendrons. In Museum Terra Maris you can learn more about the Zeeland landscape. And you can have a quiet drink in the café.
