Walking between Wichmond and Vierakker

The countryside between Wichmond and Vierakker offers beautiful walks. You will find plenty of natural beauty, but also cultural history. Just after your departure, for example, you will pass the Sint-Willibrordus Church from 1870. In 2011, this building was voted the most beautiful church in Gelderland. A little further on you pass 't Suideras, a historic country estate. On the left on the Heerlerweg you pass 't Spieker, a manor that originally dates from the sixteenth century. A little later you walk through Vierakker. The name is a corruption of Veeracker, the place where you could cross the IJssel. From junction W19 you walk a bit across the Hackfort Estate. It is wonderfully quiet here, ideal for a day of relaxation. You can enjoy a drink and a delicious meal on the terrace of Grand Café Bij Ludger.
