Wolink estate and church paths from Haarlo

Your route starts at Hotel Cafe Restaurant Prinsen. In the seventeenth century, a whole network of church paths emerged in the Achterhoek. Catholicism was banned in 1627, Catholics had to move to secret churches where they walked along small paths. This is how hidden church paths emerged everywhere. You take a nice walk on the Erve Wolink Estate. The past is clearly palpable on this estate. You can still see the monumental farm, the original plot layout, the canals and hedgerows. Many different birds are found in this area, more than sixty species have been counted. On the way back you walk through Haarlo. Take a look at the domed church called "de Kluntjespot" (dialect for sugar bowl) because of its shape. The church is beautifully situated on a mound, hidden behind stately oak trees.
