Your route starts at Cafe d\\\'r Eck. Today you will discover the Rodebach-Rode Beek Nature and Landscape Park, a cross-border nature reserve of 750 hectares that extends into Germany. The Roode Beek and Rodebach both flow through the park. The nature reserve is extremely varied and consists of streams, marshes, grassy meadows and forests. Nature restoration has created a wonderfully adventurous area here. The former marshland here was completely drained until a few years ago. The streams had been transformed into straight watercourses in concrete, to drain water from the mining areas and make the soil suitable for agriculture. Local municipalities started working together to give the water free rein again. Nature was restored on a large scale and as a nature lover you can now reap the benefits!
Below you will find various suggestions for breaks that you can visit during your route. These are divided into different categories, making it easy for you to choose.
