Your route starts at Cafe d\\\'r Eck. You cross the German border and cycle through the Worm Valley, along the winding banks of the Worm. The steep banks in the outer bends are an ideal breeding ground for the kingfisher. The former mining area around Staatsmijn Wilhelmina has been transformed in recent years into Gravenrode Park, of which the Anstelerbeekdal and the Strijthagerbeekdal are part. You cycle along the banks of the Cranenweyer, a reservoir in the Anstel Valley (also called Anstelerbeek Valley). You will also pass Strijthagen Castle, the last remaining noble estate in this region. The main building dates from the eighteenth century. The Brunssummerheide was built on a former garbage dump, you wouldn't say that anymore. It is a beautiful rugged and hilly nature reserve. There is even a herd of Schoonbeeker sheep!
Below you will find various suggestions for breaks that you can visit during your route. These are divided into different categories, making it easy for you to choose.
