Walking through Winterswijk and the countryside

Winterswijk is an excellent walking municipality. This route takes you along a mix of natural and cultural beauty. First you walk to the Market. You pass some beautiful old buildings, such as the old Jacobskerk. Further on you walk along the natural banks of the Whemerbeek. You walk along a sandy path to junction K51. You will arrive at Ravenhorst Estate. In the Middle Ages there was a castle here that burned down in 1500. At junction T75 you walk through a play forest, further on you walk on quiet roads through agricultural areas. In the Spoorstraat you will see some old villas that were built at the end of the nineteenth century, when Winterswijk was booming thanks to the textile industry. At Gastrobar Blend 61 you can enjoy a delicious lunch.
