Description
A nice route that takes you through both the center of Makkum and the Makkumersudwaard nature reserve.
Nature reserve
Along the IJsselmeer coast there are beautiful nature reserves outside the dikes, also known as values. Here you will see countless numbers of birds and enjoy the view over the wavy water of the IJsselmeer. Near Makkum you will find the Makkumersudwaard. Originally, they are all overgrown sandbanks surrounded by shallow IJsselmeer water and it is a protected nature reserve.
A walking path runs through the Makkumersudwaard , which is closed during the breeding season from March 15 to July 15. Outside of this breeding area, it is extremely worthwhile to follow this area via this walking route.
