Tour of Hindeloopen, Koudum and Workum

Your route starts at EuroParcs Hindeloopen. Driving along the IJsselmeer coast you have a beautiful view over the water. At junction 23 you will find Heidenskip, the Heidenschap. This area is known for the Fierljeppen. In Workum you can easily experience the old atmosphere. You will see beautiful buildings such as the former town hall, the weighing house and the St. Gertrude Church. A visit to the Jopie Huisman Museum is very worthwhile. Hindeloopen is one of the Frisian Eleven Cities, it received city rights as early as 1225. Towards the end of the Middle Ages, skippers conducted a lively trade here with cities on the Baltic Sea. The town flourished in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, and the capital captain's houses still show how rich the Hindeloopers were at the time.
