Description
Your route starts at Het Polderhuis, museums & more. Worth a visit, you will learn more about the landscape created by war. Westkapelle was almost completely wiped off the map by a bombing at the end of the Second World War. Walcheren was largely flooded to drive out the Germans. A clear reminder of the liberation is the Sherman tank that still stands on the dike, just behind the museum. On the south side of the village you will see De Kreek. It is a remnant of the Second World War, when the dike was bombed by the Allies. Now there are many birds, you might even see a kingfisher. After a tour of Middelburg and Vlissingen you drive back past the'Hoge Licht\\\' lighthouse.
