Your route starts at Pannenkoekenhuis De Boskabouter. The sixteenth-century Castle de Cannenburgh was built on the remains of an earlier, probably fourteenth-century castle. In 1543, the then ruins came into the hands of the famous warlord Maarten van Rossum. He ordered the castle to be rebuilt, but died before its completion. Korte Broek is a nature reserve of Geldersch Landschap & Kasteelen. It is located along the Egelbeek, but wet and dry parts alternate. You can have a nice stroll there. The rare moor frog breeds here. The seepage water in Korte Broek is very clean and not as acidic as in heathland fens, which is perfect for the eggs of this frog species. You will also find special plant species there, such as reed orchids, marsh sedge leaves, stream moss and various sedge species.
Below you will find various suggestions for breaks that you can visit during your route. These are divided into different categories, making it easy for you to choose.
